Mediation is an effective and efficient form of dispute resolution. It is an informal method of using a third, neutral person to help two parties voluntarily resolve a conflict. Mediation creates a platform to discuss issues and clear up misunderstandings. All parties work together to determine the specific needs of a situation, find solutions and areas of agreement. A mediator never imposes a decision but helps both parties come to an agreeable resolution.
At Personal Growth and Learning Center, Director Dr. Carole Lovell offers several types of
divorce mediation:
- Child and Spousal Support
- Division of Property and Assets
- Changes to Existing Agreements
Mediation helps divorcing couples better meet their child's needs by creating a manageable parenting plan both parents can abide by.
Dr. Lovell offers other types of mediation for families:
- Family Borrowing Conflicts
Family mediation is beneficial for improving family communication and reinforcing realistic expectations.
It gives parties greater control over the outcome of a conflict. Mediation is a way for family members to express their feelings fairly. The goal of mediation is to find an easier and often quicker conflict resolution.
